At Bitterroot Aussies, our goal is not only to preserve, but to better the breed and produce healthy, beautiful Australian Shepherds with excellent temperaments, strong structure, and the ability to thrive both in the show ring and as active, well-rounded family companions. We are incredibly passionate about the breed and take the responsibility of bringing puppies into the world very seriously.

All of our puppies include both AKC and ASCA registrations. All of our sires and dams have their hips and elbows evaluated through OFA. Health and temperament are major considerations in our breeding program.

One of the biggest differences you’ll find with our puppies is the amount of time, planning, and intentional development that goes into raising them.

We utilize Puppy Culture and Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) from an early age. This is much more than simply raising puppies in our home and giving them plenty of attention. Puppy Culture is a comprehensive puppy-raising program designed to give puppies the best possible foundation for the rest of their lives. Throughout their development, puppies are thoughtfully exposed to new people, sounds, surfaces, environments, handling, grooming, crate training, early potty training, appropriate socialization, problem-solving exercises, and age-appropriate challenges.

ENS begins during the critical early developmental period and involves carefully controlled exercises and handling designed to provide appropriate neurological stimulation. As the puppies grow, we continue building on that foundation with structured experiences that help them become confident, adaptable, resilient, and prepared for life with their families.

We put a tremendous amount of time and effort into each litter. Our puppies aren't simply raised until they're old enough to go home — we are intentionally preparing them for the transition into their new families. We carefully monitor their development and individual personalities so that we can help match each puppy with the family that will be the best fit.
